"Aromatic, showing green olive, sandalwood and floral notes, with sweet cherry, plum and spice flavors. This opulent, exotic red is balanced and long, with a refreshing finish. Enjoyable now, but will be better in a year or so. Best from 2008 through 2018. 725 cases made". Wine Spectator 2007.

V92 Points. The manipulations this wine underwent have been shrugged off and this is much more harmonious than it was when I saw it just after bottling. There is now a hint of secondary fruit in evidence though the airy, spicy, fresh and wonderfully pure and complex nose is still largely primary in basic character as it leads to detailed, vibrant and sweet flavors that culminate in a finish that is distinctly linear, indeed almost a bit strict at present. Still, the transparency here is marvelous and while this is clearly still on the way up, it's more on the order of 5 years away from its peak. In a word, lovely. Burghound April 2008.

88 Points. "Given the location of its vineyard, on the rocky steep slope above Vosne-Romanee's famous grand crus, I was surprised at how well Clair's Vosne-Romanee Champs Perdrix performed in 2003. Though hailing from a limestone-dominated terroir with poor water retention, it displayed a structured yet ripe personality. Spicy black fruit-scented, it is light to medium-bodied, filled with blackberry, cherry and cassis flavors, and possesses a lingering finish. Projected maturity: now-2010." 90 Points. "There's still some oak influence, lending vanilla and other sweet spices that complement the black cherry and cassis flavors. Full and powerful, yet stylish, with a long, spice- and mineral-infused finish". Wine Spectator

Dark berries and spices make up the nose of the 2003 Gevrey-Chambertin Cazetiers. A black cherry-dominated wine, it expands on the palate to reveal a suave, satin-textured character. This fruit-forward wine is lush, generous, and pleasing. Drink it over the next 5 years. Wine Advocate # 160, Aug 2005

89 Points. "The demure blackberry aromas of the 1999 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers lead to a tarry, black fruit and licorice-imbued personality. This firm, medium-bodied wine has noticeble tannin yet appears to have the requisite fruit to sustain it. Drink it between 2004 and 2009." Wine Advocate # 160, Aug 2005

89 Points. "A spiced blackberry-scented offering, the 2003 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St.-Jacques exhibits a rich personality of jammy dark berries. Medium-bodied, velvety-textured, and with appealing depth, it coats the palate with its suave fruit. It should be drunk over the next 5-6 years." Wine Advocate # 160, Aug 2005
