Allegrini, Valpolicella Classico DOC, 2005 (6 bottles @ $24.90 per bottle)
The excellent 2005 Valpolicella Classico (60% Corvina Veronese, 35% Rondinella, and 5% Molinara, aged in tank prior to release) offers abundant amounts of sweet and sour cherries along with hints of dried herbs, white chocolate, and mocha, light tannin, and medium body. This classic Valpolicella is best drunk over the next 2-3 years. Wine Advocate # 165, Jun 2006

92 Points. "The 2003 Barolo Ornato, from a vineyard in Serralunga, is a big, brooding wine loaded with scorched earth, smoke, dark fruit and plenty of toasted oak. Made in full-bodied, super-ripe style, the wine possesses outstanding depth with a note of alcoholic warmth on the finish. While not the most subtle Barolo out there, this is a very strong effort from Pio Cesare. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2023." Wine Advocate # 173, Oct 2007
