Sergio Zenato, Amarone Della Valpolicella DOC Riserva, 2001 (6 bottles @ $199.00 per bottle)

93 Points. "The estate's top of the line 2001 Amarone Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato is superb. A blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Sangiovese, it reveals expressive aromatics followed by a compelling array of raisins, tar, chocolate and sweet fruit. It, too, comes across as powerful and brawny in style, but it is also a much more complete, rich wine than the 2003 Amarone tasted alongside it. This beautiful Amarone offers terrific length and a long, resonating finish. It spent three years in large oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2011." eRobertparker.com # 173, Oct 2007

Massolino, Barolo , 2003 (6 bottles @ $89.20)

92 Points. "Massolino decided against bottling their single-vineyard Barolos in 2003, opting instead for a blend, which consumers will be able to enjoy at a very reasonable price considering today's market environment. The estate's 2003 Barolo is made in a soft approachable style. It reveals notable depth in its core of vibrant black cherries with lovely purity and well-integrated tannins. This is a terrific effort from Massolino. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2018." Wine Advocate # 173, Oct 2007
