Tommaso Bussola is one of the great producers of Valpolicella/Ripasso/Amarone. The leading writer on Italian wines Nicolas Belfrage regards him in the same league as Quintarelli and Dal Forno. He says Bussola's wines display "…a depth and intensity of sheer fruit difficult to find anywhere in the world of wine…"
On the slopes of the Valpolicella Classico zone at Negrar the small Bussola family simply do all the basic things with typical Veneto intensity! It's just great vineyard work and clean and meticulous winemaking. There are two ranges; the tiny quantities of the 'TB' range, interestingly raved over by seemingly contrary critics like Belfrage and Parker, these are wines of fabled concentration which we may be able to offer a tiny portion of occasionally. The 'BG' range are quite brilliant in their own right and offer the clean, silky depths of many producers 'reserve' wines. The depth and sweet/savoury maraschino cherry characteristics of these Corvina based reds is wonderful. You'll love them.
