Coleraine, Te Mata Estate's Bordeaux blend whose first vintage was 1982, is the most famous Cabernet-Merlot wine in New Zealand. Of the 2005, Cabernet Sauvignon 37%, Merlot 45%, Cabernet Franc 18%. Very fine deep colour (berries were the smallest on record). A classic Bordeaux blend with masses of blackcurrant fruit, very attractive and pure with terrific length. Finishes in the dry style, quite Léoville-Las Cases. 18/20. STEVEN SPURRIER JULY 2007 "What's New Zealand's greatest wine? Te Mata Estate Coleraine, which demonstrated that this country can consistently produce world-class Bordeaux-style reds." New Zealand House & Garden
